Come Get Well with Mel I’ve watched as more and more people around me struggle with chronic health issues, prescribed medications that seem to create as many problems as they solve. The numbers are staggering: nearly 60% of Americans take at least one prescription medication, and almost 15% are on five or more. Yet, despite all of this intervention, people aren’t getting healthier. If anything, the opposite is true. I’ve felt that frustration firsthand. After years of seeking solutions from conventional doctors—endless tests, quick prescriptions, and rushed appointments—I realized something was missing. That’s when I turned to holistic medicine, where I was introduced to a different approach, one that considers the whole body and seeks to understand why symptoms occur in the first place. This experience changed everything for me. It led me to enroll at the Nutritional Therapy Association in early 2024, and my work is based on a science-backed, root-cause approach to nutrition and lifestyle therapy—one that aligns with the way our bodies were designed to function. At the core of this approach are five key foundations of health: ✔ Digestion – Addressing everything from reflux to gut imbalances, autoimmune connections, and more, by working “north to south” in the body. ✔ Blood Sugar Regulation – Getting off the blood sugar roller coaster to prevent energy crashes, poor sleep, weight gain, and metabolic disorders. ✔ Sleep – Understanding how nutrition, stress, and lifestyle choices impact deep, restorative sleep without the need for sleep aids. ✔ Stress – Managing both external stressors and internal imbalances that silently tax the body, leading to inflammation and disease. ✔ Nutrient-Dense Diet – Helping people make sustainable changes that fuel their bodies and minds for long-term health. I have seen firsthand how powerful these foundations are in restoring balance, energy, and vitality. And I want to share this approach with those who need it most.
