Healing Motion, PC was founded by J. Christopher Potts, PT, DPT in response to a need for comprehensive physical therapy and wellness services all under one roof. He felt strongly that the traditional way physical therapy is provided does not place the patient and their healing process as the first and most important priority. In order to do that we have created a treatment environment that fosters a true collaborative relationship between patient and therapist and allows the therapist the most freedom to craft the best possible plan of care for each patient. To further these goals, Christopher has been specializing in John F. Barnes' MFR for over 15 years, in combination with Pilates &/or Gyrotonic based therapeutic exercise.Christopher holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University and a Master's of Fine Arts degree in dance from Arizona State University . Since beginning his studies with Pilates elder, Mary Bowen, in 1982, Christopher has developed extensive expertise in The Pilates Method over the course of his 30+ year teaching career, studying with many master teachers.In addition, Christopher was company physical therapist for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and worked at UPMC Center for Sports Medicine for two years. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh he was a professional dancer (15 years) in New York City with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company. In 1999, he was certified to teach Gyrotonic.
