Dr. Michael Zabala Aquino (he/him/his)

Michael Zabala Aquino, PT, DPT is an orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapist with a focus on lifestyle management and population health. He attained his clinical doctorate at Chapman University in Southern California and has worked with a variety of populations ranging from individuals with chronic/persistent pain conditions, injured youth athletes, work-related injuries, to the post-stroke population for return to optimal health.

Dr. Aquino has a love for serving people suffering from chronic/persistent pain conditions and has worked within a multidisciplinary pain program that has had great outcomes in the recovery for people suffering persistent pain conditions. He is currently one of the directors of an interdisciplinary chronic pain program (Roots - Chronic Pain Recovery) that he is helping to develop in Long Beach, CA. As a person living with a persistent pain condition, himself, he developed a love for pain neuroscience and its therapeutic applications, which have changed his life. He now shares his specialized knowledge in pain with his patients and the general public, teaching pain workshops and lectures. He has undergone mentorship for the treatment of chronic/persistent pain conditions and attained his Therapeutic Pain Specialist certification through the International Spine and Pain Institute to further his skills.
