Hello, I’m Ibukun but my friends call me Ibbie. I'm a physiotherapist and the owner of The Mama’s Physio in Ontario.
I absolutely love what I do. I love working in pelvic health and I consider it an honour and a privilege that women entrust their care to me. Over the years I've learned so much from this profession - especially through my clients. They have helped me become more effective, a better therapist and a better person.
My interest in women’s health began when I was completing my Master’s degree in physiotherapy at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. I completed a rotation in international health and travelled to a rural hospital in Uganda, East Africa. As I worked in the maternity ward of the hospital, I saw first hand how meaningful and essential it is to women to have a health advocate and coach on their team, especially when it came to childbirth and the post-partum period. It was a profound experience which planted a seed in me that would eventually grow to become The Mama's Physio.
At our office we have 5 physios who are all trained in pelvic health physiotherapy. We work with women across the lifespan - from late teens to seniors. We also treat children who present with pelvic floor challenges. We are very intentional about taking a holistic to approach to health and using the biopsychosocial framework to treat pelvic health conditions. We treat incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, pelvic pain, sexual pain and dysfunction, abdominal/gut issues, diastasis rectus abdominis, pregnancy related conditions, and much more. A bit about my educational background:
I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an honours degree in Kinesiology in 2005, and obtained my Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University in 2007. I have worked in Ottawa and London in private and public settings, and have attended a number of national and global conferences to keep up with my knowledge base. I have also completed many post-graduate courses, including my certification levels in pelvic health. And I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to learning, so you can always find me reading up on the most recent research evidence in the world of women’s health. I also started a pelvic health journal club which brings together pelvic health physiotherapists across our region. Physical Therapist
