Hi! I am an orthopedic, pediatric, and women’s pelvic health physical therapist of 30 years! My passion in women’s health began in the early 1990's, fostered by Hollis Herman PT and Elizabeth Nobel PT, when learned about the inadequacy of physical therapy care of women's health in the US compared to other countries and how prenatal and postpartum pain and dysfunction was being dismissed by the general medical community. Ever since, I have studied, worked, and advocated for this population. Starting in 1997, I taught prenatal classes, teaching exercises and preparing women for birth and the postpartum period for a Massachusetts birthing center for 10 years, and had one of the lowest caesarean rates in the area, as well as provided acute and outpatient obstetric physical therapy. In 2017, I became an official pelvic health physical therapist, completing P1, the first of many internal pelvic health trainings through Herman and Wallace and completed the full series including Capstone Pelvic Floor in subsequent years. In 2020, when Covid-19 shut down local hospital's labor and childbirth preparation classes, I opened WellWomanPT LLC, started online and taught live online group prenatal and postpartum exercise and childbirth education classes to help reduce caesarean rates, ease anxiety over birth and promote early postpartum pelvic care. Later that year, I expanded and offered women's pelvic health physical therapy in clinic, home, and telehealth and also expanded my prenatal programs live in studio to assist with mother's isolation and promotion of community wellness. In 2021, I studied and trained in visceral fascial mobilization of urinary and reproductive systems. In 2022, I was awarded the CAPP-OB by the APTA, earning the certificate of achievement in prenatal and postpartum physical therapy. Of late, I have been treating more young women, pre-conception, and guiding them towards specialists for early intervention and earlier diagnosis of endocrine, auto-immune, and endometriosis/adenomyosis with goals early detection and prevention of chronic pain and disability. I wholly believe that with early intervention, physical therapy and education are integral to helping women prevent the development chronic pain, dysfunction, and suffering, so they lead happier healthier active lifestyles along side their family's.
